I have to admit, I have a really soft spot for shoes. They can make or break an outfit. You are pretty much always the same size, no matter how much dessert you have had. And they don’t take up that much space (if you get rid of the box!). I often buy the shoe before the outfit. I tend to stockpile heels, even though I can’t wear them every day. As I get older and the years that I have been standing on my feet in retail keep adding up, I do have to focus on comfort as well as style, as even my feet aren’t what they used to be!! Oh the joy of bunions! While my shoe collection continues to grow, I have noticed some tried and true silhouettes that are always at the front of my closet. Must have shoes for spring and summer! Here you have them:
Ballet Flats: I cannot count how many pairs I have. Be sure to have classic colours first, and then add a great print or the colours of the season. Perfect for traveling, always chic (think Audrey Hepburn) and available in all different qualities (try to buy the best you can afford!).
Classic Black Pumps: You choose your silhouette, but be sure to have one on hand alongside your Little Black Dress (LBD).
Nude Heels: These have become my absolute favourite new shoe! A bit of a platform and you are celebrity styled for seasons to come.
A Brown tone or Metallic Thong Sandal: Works with many looks and is a nice update of the traditional flip flop!
A Wedge: Go high or stay low – no matter what, you will walk in style and comfort!
A Sexy Evening Shoe: That says it all – you pick your look and work it!!!
All-Weather Boots: Opposite of the above, but practical and fashionable. Hunter Boots have stayed the course here – they have become a staple!
Now – the others (I won’t admit how many) are extras – wants not needs! Although I never seem to have just the right pair for every outfit, so I will keep collecting until I do!!!
